The Bay-Atlantic
Symphony is thrilled by the exciting response to our 2007 Avalon
Program. With excellent support from the Free Library and
the Borough,
we were able to touch more than
2,000 residents and visitors with the power and beauty of
classical music, making Avalon the haven for summer classical
music
(see
http://www.avalonfreelibrary.org:80/BAS2008.html).
Music Director Jed Gaylin has
developed a music package for 2008 that increases the scope and
depth of the previous year’s experience. The power of the
2008 season resides in the two symphonic concerts, both of which
include larger, more varied levels of sound. The
Italian Opera Extravaganza
will incorporate a minimum of two superb opera singers to help
create an extraordinary event, unparalleled in South Jersey.
The Tchaikovsky Jubilee
will bring together the very large, exceptionally talented
orchestra as well as a world-class soloist to make the music
soar.
A Brass Quintet performance on
May 24, 2008 at 7pm featuring classical and popular music in
a program specifically designed by BAS musicians for this event
A String Quartet performance
on September 20, 2008 at 7pm featuring classical music in a
program specifically designed by BAS musicians for this event.
When considering what music to
bring to the very knowledgeable Avalon audience for the summer
of 2008, Jed Gaylin wanted to surpass the previous year’s
success by heightening the level of challenge and artistry by
performing important, soul-shaking musical experiences. He
has accomplished that in proposing this sublimely thrilling and
satisfying season, a musical season that Avalon will never
forget.
