Do you love a Sea Shanty
If so, we have one nestled in the heart of this rich program for strings and piano. Handel’s extravagant Trio Sonata No. 4 encompasses an incredible range of refinement (Chantilly) and raucous (Shanty).
The “Shanty” appears in the Gigue (Jig) of the fourth movement. But there is an incredibly passacaglia (think Pachelbel, but better!) as well.
We bookend with two sumptuous, Romantic works: Bizet’s Adagietto from L’arlésienne and Mascagni’s Intermezzo Sinfonico from Cavalleria Rusticana.
