Bay-Atlantic Chamber Orchestra Presents Free Concert Of Music For Winds By Dvořák And Mozart At Dante Hall In Atlantic City On April 29
Two great masterpieces for wind ensemble by Antonín Dvořák and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will make up the program of a free concert by the Bay-Atlantic Chamber Orchestra on Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m., at Richard Stockton College – Dante Hall Theater of the Arts, 12 N. Mississippi Ave., Atlantic City, NJ.
The concert, conducted by Music Director Jed Gaylin, will feature Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds in D minor, Op. 44 and Mozart’s Serenade No. 10 in B-flat major, K. 361, “Gran Partita.”
The two serenades that make up this delightful “Maritime Mistral” concert represent some of the finest writing for wind instruments from the Romantic and Classical periods. Dvořák’s is folksy and full of the dance rhythms, modal harmonies, and sweeping melodies of the composer’s native Bohemia. Mozart’s Gran Partita contains sublime music - intricate yet pure, haunting yet fresh. This is a rare opportunity to hear this incredible music.
The concert, sponsored by the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, is free but tickets are required. Please call the Bay-Atlantic Symphony office at (856) 451-1169 or e-mail dantehall@stockton.edu for ticket information.
